The Chaos Within is a journey through Kabbalah, heroin, chaos and redemption. For 10 years director Yakov Yanai Lein filmed his mother’s and his own life change dramatically. The mother, a holocaust survivor, married Rabbi Ashlag when she was 45 and he 40 years older. He taught her the secrets of Kabbalah and then passed away. Since then she, Rebbetizin Faiga, has been trying to save the world from self-annihilation by teaching Kabbalah. Yet, every birthday she fights her desire to disintegrate into shreds of chaos and choses life. Faiga wanted her son to be the messiah. Instead, he ran away at the age of 14 to the streets of Tel Aviv to become a heroin addict. Finally, he found himself living in Jerusalem, a filmmaker, telling his life-story through film.
