Following the Institute’s day-to-day routine provides a kind of x-ray of Israeli society. It is a brutal mirror, reflecting Israel in the most unflattering way imaginable. And yet, as harsh as it may seem, one cannot help but be fascinated by the significance of this gruesome image. By its very nature, the Institute deals with those things that society is determined to conceal. Lying here is the tension between what is taboo and how it is desecrated, between the repulsive and the possible.
